A wonderfully awkward Jolyon Palmer interview

I feel a little bit for Palmer.

Like a lot of sons of ex-drivers, he was probably put on this path by his Dad from a very young age. You only need to look through his results in junior categories to see that he clearly didn't have the natural talent to make it all the way to F1 and succeed, but yet though his fathers money and connections, he's found himself here.

Imagine going through your whole life, being told and then believing it was your goal to get to F1, only to get there and then eventually realize that you're completely out of your depth and just not cut out for this thing that you've been told all your life you were going to do.

Aside from the fact that he's obviously feeling the pressure from Renault for his seat, he's probably thinking what a waste all these years have been to get here, only to be humiliated, and is probably wondering what to do next.

OK look he's not going to starve after F1, I'm sure he'll be fine, but in terms of a career, this should have been nipped in the bud years ago. Heshould never have got to F1. His Father seems like a compete twat and is probably just living living vicariously through Jolyon.

There's been plenty of poor drivers and pay drivers in F1 over the years, but I'm not sure I can remember a driver so far out of his depth in a reasonably competitive car that was allowed to stay this long?
