I wonder what is to come as I breathe my last breath. I close my eyes, and everything fades to black. Instantly, i'm surrounded by a crowd of people before a great white throne. "Jacklin Pierce", I hear a thunderous yet gentle voice announce. A young lady departs from the crowd and walks up the stairs to stand before the Great One on the throne. "Angel, open the books!" The Great One commanded. The angel with six gargantuan wing pulled out several large compilations and opened to the first page. "Read, angel!" The angel began sifting through the pages, as if looking for something. "I said, READ angel!" He repeated The angel briskly sorted through the pages of the books of Jacklin Pierces life. "Angel, I command you read!" He said at last. The angel replied, "I can not. The books are full, but it's as if something has blotted out the words. Not one single word is legible!" "And what is it that has blotted out the deeds of her life?" God replied The angel made direct eye contact with Him on the throne and in a gentle voice said "The blood of your son, Jesus Christ" Moved, God said "Enter in to these gates Jacklin! Well done my good and faithful servant! Come receive your eternal reward!" "THANK YOU LORD!" She exclaimed with glee! "You are truly perfect! Everything good comes from you! Thank you for your sacrifice for me!" The angels celebrated and the crowd gaped in awe at what had just happened, some content and others confused. "Dillon Lucas" The same thunderous voice echoed. I stepped out, fully confident in what was about to happen. I hadn't expected this, but I'm ready for it! "Angel, open the books!" He again said. The angel followed the same procedure, and opened to the first page. "Read" The angel began to read, from the first page to the last every single detail of my life, from the private to the most public. I had lived quite an ordinary life, but was very kind and helped many people along the way. "Adultery" God said. All I did was check out that girl as she walked by... "Drunkenness" Really? Only a few parties in college. We were just having fun. "Gluttony." Those thanksgiving dinners were good...wait. He's accusing me! How dare he!
As the angel continued reading, and God declared my crimes against Him, I realized the scope of what was happening. "Blasphemy, idolatry, greed, hatred, selfish ambition, envy." No! This can't be happening!! I went to church! I was sure! God began, his hot anger shaking my being "Dillon, during your lifetime, although you said you loved Jesus, you didn't obey what he told you to do. There were many times during your time on earth that I warned you, but you ignored them and went about your ways. Because you said you believed, and never changed your ways, you didn't get to take part in the new life I had for you on earth. Many others missed out on their salvation because of your lack of obedience. The weight of their sin, too, will be put on you. You chose the life you wanted to life, seperated from me. I love you, and I will honor that choice you made and you will be put into the flames of Hell" "GUILTY. YOU'RE RIGHT. I'M SORRY! PLEASE HAVE MERCY! JESUS IS LORD!" I bowed before him. I couldn't think of anything else to say. This was really it. God finished "If you had repented before you died, I would have accepted you with open arms and you would be walking into My gates. But now, it's too late. The decision has been made. Leave me, and go down to Hell with your brothers and the angels that rebelled against me"
There is still hope. We have all sinned, at least once. In fact, every one of us sins daily. God is so great and perfect, that even one sin(crime) against Him is worthy of eternal punishment in Hell. That's where everyone would go if it wasn't for Jesus. Because He never sinned and was God Himself in a human body He was able to take the punishment for our sins. He was crucified and forsaken by God. That was the punishment. Just as He said though, and to show the acceptance of His payment for our sins, He literally rose up from His grave after 3 days and appeared to his disciples. There are historically over 500 witnesses from the time period for this. Miracles are done in His name every single day, and I have seen them. Please, don't walk away from this without considering that we need a savior. He paid the debt for every crime we commited, and if we believe He did, we receive the benefits of it. Not only are we pardoned for our crimes, we receive a divine reward of eternal life, rather than eternal death. Is God calling you, through your conscience, to repent and believe today?
If you decide that you believe, awesome! Go seek out a bible believing church(I say this because many don't follow the bible, like catholics) and begin learning more about Jesus, and the promises he makes to those who believe. Remember, you need to know you're hopeless on your own, and you need to believe in Jesus for salvation. Without Him in your heart, you can't escape the tendency to sin and sin is what takes us to Hell.
