I was driving down a dark, quiet road late at night. I had just been returning from a family reunion in upstate New York back to my home in Boston. I had left at approximately 9:30 PM with the intention to make the 5 hour drive back to Boston and get home around 2:30 AM.

I had been underway for about 30 minutes when the accident happened. It all happened in a flash. A drunk driver came around a turn going what must have been 100 miles per hour. He drifted into my lane and slammed into my car before I could react. My car was thrown off the highway and into the woods that lined the sides of the road, smashing into a tree. I didn't feel any pain, just an intense feeling of shock from the sudden accident. I looked down to see my own body mutilated. With metal pieces going right through my torso. It was all I could process before I blacked out.

It was at that point a menu screen appeared in my field of view. It read "You died!" with the options "Respawn" and "Title screen". I tried looking around. Everything around me was just a seemingly infinite void of blackness. I had no body to speak of, nor seemingly any way to choose something from this menu. It was as if it the only thing in the universe was my consciousness observing this menu screen.

I decided to try to do something. Having played Minecraft before, I knew what both of these options meant. I tried to select "Title screen". I imagined moving my arm out and pressing the "Title screen" button. Despite no hand to speak of appearing from my side, the menu changed. It now read "Are you sure you want to go to the Title screen?" with the options "Yes" and "No". I clicked yes. The Title screen appeared in front of me. It read "Lifegame" at the top and presented itself in a way similar to the Minecraft title screen. However, unlike Minecraft, there were only 3 options to choose from, "Worlds", "Settings", and "Quit game". I clicked on settings. Another menu screen appeared in front of me. This one had several options, such as Volume, Languages, and something called White mode. I clicked on White mode. At this point, everything around me changed from an inky black void to a brilliant white. I looked down to see that I in fact had no body. And it was as if I was telepathically selecting these items. I looked back at the settings screen and turned off White mode, the inky blackness returned. I toggled with the other settings. Volume caused a noise similar to clicking an option bar in Minecraft to happen whenever I clicked something. Languages prompted me with a list of every human language ever created. Common languages such as English and Spanish, dead languages that were lost in history, even made up languages. As far as I could tell, all these settings only affected the title screen, so I went back and clicked on "Worlds".

There was only 1 world that presented itself in this screen. A world named "World one". According to the timestamp, the world had been created January 12, 1994. My date of birth. Another option was available at the bottom of the screen, "Create new world". I clicked on it and was presented with another menu. This one had several options. An option to name the world, an option to customize it, an option to select the world type, and an option to create the world. There were only 2 world types, "Customized" and "Random". The option to customize the world disappeared when "Random" was selected. I selected "Customized" and looked at the options. There were dozens of options, wealth at birth, intelligence, day length, average temperature. I realized I could choose the very life I could live. I customized the world so that I would be born to a rich and powerful family and live a comfortable life in an enjoyable world. I went back to the "Create new world" menu, named the world "World 2", and clicked "Create new world".

Charlek Bennapeng was born 2.36 cycs from the end of the yelfk to Keelper Jeklig and Keelps Astela. At the age of 8.6 zals, he ascended to Keelper after the death of his father. Bennapeng was a good ruler, making taxes unnecessary and virtually eliminating crime and poverty on the world of Fwzlio. He also dedicated much of the planetary budget to research and development of society. He is almost unanimously regarded as the greatest Keelper in the history of Fwzlio.
