'Why is it your right to take away my right to choose?': Teenager slams top Republican senator during town hall

Convincing someone's heart relies on emotional appeals. If I brought anecdotes into it in that kind of an attempt, people would say "anecdotes aren't data". It's really unfortunate that no matter if the argument is sound, if the "tone" is off people can still say "lalala I can't hear you". I thought conservatives were all about fiscally responsible legislation anyway.

Also, it is a little disingenuous comparing this to "allowance" and poor people as minors. They are adults.

This is not about money to be spent doing frivolous things. It's about money directly spent to save lives and improve quality of life. Think about what they are asking when they say only the financially able should access birth control. It means they think only rich people should be able to have a relationship with someone, that poor people should "just say no" and limit themselves to platonic relationships, else be judged as welfare queens and deadbeat dads. They want to limit an entire group of people from a core part of the human experience, and it doesn't work very well. A lot of kids are born in such circumstances! And constantly the parents are insulted in passing, when they never meant to be parents, they just wanted love, that connection with another person, like all humans.
