likewise the government’s nominal job is supposed to be to serve the citizenry. In practice they have other interests, and since they employ the police and write the laws, the police force’s actual job is whatever the government decides it is. If that job is something bad people are attracted to or better-suited for, most cops will be bad people. Some responsibilities of that job can coincide with the interests of the community, which is why i said that some people trying to do good may find their best option is to become a cop. Other responsibilities - some official, others unofficial but required in practice - can conflict with the community. i cant tell you what your own country’s cops are like but that conflict certainly exists in the US
