BTW the article says this

The context (of the paragraph and overall article) implies it's referring to the same type of affair (with boss). The wording is ambiguous. However, the next paragraph confirms.

And worse, 37% claim the action was rewarded: they said that women involved in affairs received a career boost as a result.

37% of those 15% were rewarded by promotion or other career boost. How could a reward happen if the affair was not with a boss? This phrasing, and the subsequent HBR discussion on leadership perception, confirms that they're still talking about affairs with the boss (not affairs with the milkman).
