I think I really only have one question for him. Last summer I did a triathlon for the first time and had been training for it for months. The week of the race, he asked me if he “had to come.” The race was 10 min away from his house so it’s not like he had to travel. The morning of the race he went with me to the start and acted like he was tired/bored/annoyed he had to be there in the first place. When I finished the race, he wasn’t at the finish and was still at a coffee shop. I told him later that day that it upset me he wasn’t there for the finish line, and he said “well I got up early to be there with you and you aren’t taking that into account.” He couldn’t even just apologize.

So the only question I have for him is why did he not WANT to be there for my race? When our relationship was seemingly going well? I feel like his answer will give me the final insight I need into what type of person he is.

Was it jealousy that he wasn’t in the spotlight? Did he just not care? Did he think it wasn’t important for him to be there?
