After learning hirigana, what're your thoughts on Duolingo with Romaji turned off?

Everyone will tell you not to, and I'm sure you've read the many posts also saying not to. But it sounds like you're gonna do it anyway. I get it, I have a friend who I gave my Genki books to who still uses it, and he's probably still going to use it even after I passed the hardest level in front of him and told him how rudamentary it is. Nevertheless, it's easy to pick up, and apparently textbooks just don't sit well with people. Although, I can't talk much in the first place because ... I'm using WaniKani to learn kanji. After I learned how to use Anki and made a nice card template, I wonder what the fuck I was thinking. But you gotta make some learning mistakes to figure out how to learn better in the future.

So whatever you choose to do, just ... don't give up.
