You ain’t grading a college paper

Nope. The rideshare company takes their cut. Then taxes. Then the cost of gas, and a certain percentage of insurance, car payments, depreciation, repairs, tickets, and associated expenses of owning a vehicle that the driver pays out of pocket. Then the fact that you have gaps in between rides where you earn no income and have to pay for gas driving to a pickup spot and back from the drop off spot if it is not a good spot to get pickups. Then the fact that people order rides then cancel wasting even more gas and time. Then the fact that certain types of rides like a pool can earn a ridiculously small fee to begin with and the driver can only turn down a small percentage of rides. Then all the time and gas going home at the end of your shift and you only have partial control over where you end up. So no, it is not $66 per hour just for driving.

*This is all info I've picked up from talking to my uber/lyft drivers, so apologies if I'm mistaken on any of this.
