I'm not Muslim so my experiences don't fully line up but, being a very obviously Hispanic man, has led to some people assuming negative things about my character. And that sucks, dude.

I think messing with the guy might lead him to cause trouble for someone else down the line.

"This ethnic guy is acting super suspicious, so i'm gonna keep an eye on every ethnic guy from now on."

On the business of keeping things civil ignoring him might have been the better move. If he was bothering you so much maybe confronting him might have been an option. Make him squirm in his sit, an all that. But a lot of the time though i find giving those people the time of day isn't worth it.
