AITA for pushing my nephew to break out of being a picky eater.

No you’re not. And honestly, this type of behavior seeps into adulthood and not only causes obesity, but shortens life expectancy significantly. Poor diet like this affects the body in so many ways. Children with poor diet get sick, have issues with development, may end up with ADHD and other focus issues because they’re dependent on caffeine so young. This child NEEDS a strict diet, because diabetes as an adult, a YOUNG adult at that, is detrimental. It decreases the quality of life. No one wants to be there in their 40s with diabetic neuropathy or kidney issues because they consumed so much crap as a child.

My dad was this kid. He had his first of four heart attacks at 43. He has a stent, slow tissue regeneration, ulcers, issues healing, circulation problems… you get the point. Childhood is the building blocks for a long and healthy life. You need to talk to his parents into getting him on the right track in life, before it causes irreversible damage. It’s time for an intervention.
