AITA for the "strict" schedule I have my kids on?

YTA: Are you trying to make them regret summer break? Your message seems to be, ”If you think school is bad, wait till you get a load of Dad.”

The swimming issue is most concerning. You 15 year old is basically an unpaid lifeguard, and God forbid, if one of your other children were to drown, it will destroy your oldest for the rest of his life. What if he goes to the bathroom or gets distracted?

You are also treating your kids like a daily cleaning service. That’s not why you have kids. Chores should be age appropriate and should not exempt you and your wife from housework.

Summer break is supposed to downtime and time for family vacations. Summer is an opportunity to make some lasting childhood memories. It’s fine for the kids to tidy up after themselves and pitch in and mow the lawn, etc., but you sound exploitive.
