I am avoidant

I've been avoiding making a doctor's appointment for a slip and fall I had a month ago. I lost a lot of trust in doctors after having poor experiences with them.

I went to two different dermatologists for years for my acne and all they did was irritate my skin and empty my wallet. One time a derm prescribed a cream for a rash on my face. The info packet that came with it said not to put it on your face. That was the day I decided not to go to that derm anymore.

Another example is when I went to an orthodontist for years who wanted to take my braces off when they obviously weren't straight. I got a second opinion and was told that they did a horrible job. As a kid, it was upsetting hearing I had to get braces all over again.

My pediatric doctors and dentists were amazing, kind, and understanding. Ever since I became an adult, they treat me like a burden.

It sucks because I know eventually I'm going to have to work up the courage to make an appointment, but I'm afraid of dealing with it all.
