Why am I sad for no reason?

you should reframe the way you’re thinking of mental health. you don’t just go to the doctor when you’re 100% sure you’re sick, you also go to get checkups or to check and see if something is wrong with you. mental health can be treated the same way, you don’t have to go in knowing that you’re depressed, you can just get a professional opinion. i experienced similar random crying and bouts of sadness when i was younger. depression doesn’t always manifest as negative thoughts, it can also manifest as tiredness, random crying, random irritability, low mood. doesn’t mean you have depression, but it would be nice to get a second opinion. once i got on meds i felt a lot more “alive”, i was awake and present and i felt like i had more control over my emotional state, and i hadn’t even realized that i was missing out on before i started taking them. i would listen to your parents - get a checkup! either you’re totally fine and it’s just teenage hormones and you get a nice confirmation that your mental health is in good shape, or you’re made aware of a deeper problem and you can find a path to start feeling better. it’s a win win!
