An Afghan Family, With Visas in Hand, Is Detained in Los Angeles

Again, this is just a reporting by her of what she says happened and what she believed. She has zero insight of what other information we have on our end or what information was on her family (for example, she says so herself that she was not aware fully what was on her own phone, let alone her cousin's, etc.). Even with HER report of what happened, it doesn't sound like this was a "You're a muslim, therefor get out" - Do you know how many people we would be turning away every single day? It would be ridiculous.

Another part that struck me as part of her not understanding what's happening - Near the bottom she explains the waiver she signed. The withdraw waiver is the default paperwork given to someone we are telling can't enter, but we are not taking legal action to remove by force. We're basically saying she can leave with zero repercussions and can apply for entry at any time in the future - whereas removal can sometimes result in a temporary ban. She talks about how it said something about not having the right paperwork and she was confused by that since she had the proper passport --- That is one of many things on that form. She read the top portion and left her conclusion at that it sounds like then signed without reading the rest. That is the most common use for the form, but as I mentioned it is used anytime we're not trying to threaten legal action.
