An Argument Against Dog Ownership

Centuries-late reply, but I can't really agree. On the contrary, I found this a well-written, well-conceived article that speaks to a bunch of valid concerns about dogs. Indeed, one of the phrases that resonates through the article is "it's just a dog." That's a big part of the author's point as I see it.

I think it's also worth remembering that domestic dogs are a unique species that very much are human-like in various ways. They've been selected (and bred) over the course of thousands of years to have a deep affinity with humans, and to understand human actions and reactions, as seen in their genetic ability to recognise facial expressions, for example.
