(Sorry for poor grammar) I'm not sure of how you define dark side but as for me you are not choosing dark side. Because dark side/path is the way of unknown, by choosing this side it will leading you to the end that may be better or worse or you may not be able to come back. The path you are choosing is in light side, Because people can see it a destructive path, where you will be left alone.

And if you think whatever in post you are going to do will affect the other. I would say yes, it will, they will first looking at you then they will go back to same (if you want explanation you may ask in comment, i want to keep it short.) And to anyone who keep provoking you, i would like you say congratulations to them because you perfectly playing along their game (more explanation can be asked)
