hahahaha I totally understand..Now you have me curious... what aren't you happy with in your game? I've been looking into "playing the course" from the practice facilities as something to just mix it up and maybe get me into more of a realistic rhythm. It may sound stupid but try to stick with me.
For me lately, I've been inconsistent with my swing and solid with my short game and putting, but instead of just working on my swing and those longer shots and neglecting the other aspects of my game as opposed to working one thing on the range. Instead of just finding and going through targets on the range, I want to try playing through the course in my head and keeping track on a scorecard or notepad for my mental game and routine, and see if that consistency helps, and if nothing else for a little bit just do something that isn't either playing a round or the typical range/practice session.
by playing the course I mean, after I warm up start with my driver or whatever club you would, just like it's hole 1. so, hole 1 is 376 yards for me at my local spot with a bunker at about 200 along the right side and has a dog leg right, so I want to hit a drive to play to that (obviously).. Find my target with some give or take as to whether it would be in the fairway, bunker, ob, etc etc., but just so I know what my next shot would be if I were in fact on the course..
So now I'm rambling, sorry, but basically:
hole 1= 376 yards..
& so on and so on.. hole 2 through 18, in my head. and kind of calculate and keep track even of how far I have to putt (obviously its all give or take) by marking on a scorecard my distance in feet once I do "make it on the green" so when I'm done hitting and head over to the putting green, I can go hole by hole for my 18.. ex: hole one I landed 20 feet away, and now I have to set my ball about 20 feet up or down hill (if you know the greens at the course/hole and direction) and finish out. Sorry for rambling and hope that makes sense but I was thinking about that for like 20 minutes as a new routine that may have some benefit to me, and if nothing else just different from what I normally do.
