Anyone else feel like it seems everyone wants to do cs

Well look at the “science” side of computer science. A lot of people would like to do it, but reality is you need a ton of information & exposure. So maybe that’s the future. Even thinking of the other sciences, same thing, lots of valuable ideas in there, you need experts, you need people who know those areas well to supply people like engineers with more stuff so that they can make tools for everyone to use. And then the science people will use the tools to go do science and understand more stuff & make the world a better place. I’m surprised, astonished really just how many people want to go into ‘engineering’ supposedly. I just feel like it’s making tools for a living. It’s kinda weird. Think about mechanical pencils for example. We all understand what their purpose is, we don’t really care about them, we throw them away and play with them and write with them and lose them. Very useful. However, some person has to be the designer of the pencil itself. Some engineer has the job of literally creating that pencil design. 99.999% of the world says ‘fuck that’ but that rare .001% says “fuck yeah!”. And now with software engineering it’s like jeez, this is boring af to me, I’m sorry. It’s needed, I appreciate it, I’ll use it, you’ll need users so I’ll be one! But, yeah just totally meta with the whole tools build tools ideas. So, sure you can flood into the market and wear your stamp on your sweater that you want to be that tool maker, but at the end of the day, that’s what you’ll do, make tools. Use them with constraint to make more tools. Not do other stuff with them like majority of the world lol.
