Got it, thank you, I’m learning tons here lol. Yep, it’s super taboo in American culture to sometimes even ask what you do for a living let alone how much money you make. I think there’s a very real fear of “gold diggers” by a lot of men. I think this could be because partnerships are (at least seen) as equal between a man and a woman in terms of the roles they play in a relationship so there isn’t much of a need for men to be providers, thus, no reason to really know his salary. As long as the guy makes a decent income and can support himself, most American women are happy.

I think that’s why I thought that making 300k doesn’t really matter. A guy making 60k could have a much better chance of marriage depending on his other qualities. Thank you for sharing your perspective, it’s very eye-opening
