Application Personal Statement

For my personal statement, I wrote about why I wanted to be a CLS and how I came to that decision. I talked about my previous experience working in a dental clinic as well as a vet clinic ( I considered both vet and dental school) and why I thought CLS was the better choice for my personality and personal goals. I kept it simple and answered the question of “why clinical laboratory science?”. One of the reasons I found out about the field was through working in the laboratory at a vet clinic so I briefly mentioned it.

Personally, I don’t think a personal statement needs to be like a CV. It’s a chance to show them who you are as a person before meeting you in the interview. Keep it simple and explain your own personal reason of why you want to be in the program and how you think you’ll be successful as a medical technologist either through past experiences or any soft skills you may possess.
