The people saying wear a dust mask aren't correct. A dust mask won't really do anything. You need a respirator with a cartridge that filters out the fibers. They aren't that expensive. And they have to seal well to your face to be effective.

Isolate the area with visqueen and try to put it under positive pressure with a window open so the fibers don't blow into your house and contaminate the rest of it. They can get stirred up and you can still breathe them in that way.

If you cut it or disturb it it's a good idea to wet it down first to keep dust down further.

Wear a tyvek so it doesn't get in your skin or clothes, if you consume fibers they can also cause problems by lodging into your intestines and causing the same problems they do in your lungs.

Or hire pros who have the PPE, containments, and fans to do the above.

Or roll the dice that your genes aren't those that will react to the asbestos and lead to a very painful death later on in life. Yeah the risk isn't high with a small "dose" but it's up to you if you want to roll the dice. Your family, especially kids, will also be rolling the dice too.
