I mean it has to be obvious to each and every person who pays attention to this as to what's transpiring. Here's a newsflash... The Chinese do not give one single solitary fuck about 'rights'. A large majority of Chinese people are extremely conservative and frankly don't care about bullying, trans rights or any of that shit. What they care about is money and the ability to do whatever they want, because "they" are money and they - like money - should be be able to do anything they like. Any form of political system + capitalism = varying forms of elite cooperation. Its extremely expensive to buy your way through China and you could end up on the wrong side of government at any time. The most reasonable thing to do is find a friendly foreign country with a sluttish type as a leader (all leaders are pimps who sell their citizens labour) who maybe fucked up big time by betting on a resource that didn't pan out and now has to do gangbangs and triple penetration scenes with a different type of 'investor'. It's like Suzy or Toddd wanted the big, strapping quarterback with the long pipe and the gushing nozzle, but they got turned her down and now they're peddling blowjobs and ass-lickings to toilet seat makers, selfie-stick kingpins and guys who lost half their fortune making hoverboards that burst into flame. And those guys - as repulsive as the rest of us might see them - are going be around next election and throw shit tons of 'contributions' to right leaning neo-liberal politicians, who spout liberal bullshit. Because the liberal horseshit around 'rights' and shit doesn't cost any millionaires and billionaires a fucking thing. Legalize pot? Sure - who fucking cares. Gay marriage? Whatever.
