I've almost died by misadventure a few times, alcohol was definitely a factor.

The first time I lived in a ground floor corner apartment that had a parking lot a lower level down in the back that my balcony overlooked. Locked out after returning from the bars I climbed over the railing of my balcony from ground level on the side of the building but the railing wasn't bolted into the building at that corner and I fell 15 feet and landed on my back, nothing but a few minor scratches. I actually forgot and couldn't remember why I was scratched up until I saw my friend from that night a few days later, then it came rushing back. Easily could have broken a wrist or even my neck, what they say about drunks not getting hurt because they are floppy seems right to me.

Second time I was coming home from a super bowl party and really had to piss. My parking spot was on the roof of a 6 story building (like 3 minutes of vertical spirals while doing the sitting pee-dance) connected to the apartment complex. After parking I ran over to hop onto the roof of the building to pee behind cover. Just before swinging my legs over to drop down off the half-wall dividing the two structures I realized that I was at the section of the garage next to the dumpsters on the street, not the roof, so I would have plunged 6+ stories onto dumpsters and concrete. I didn't have to pee as badly now that my blood had run cold, but I still moved my plan ten feet to the left and peed on the roof.

There have been other close calls but those are the two times that alcohol and I worked together to bring about my demise. In unrelated news, I try to drink a lot less now.
