Bill Maher: Religion is why “people who ‘always acted normal’ drop a baby off to go to a massacre”

One of the biggest disappointments in my life was the very same people whom appeared to share the same opinion on religion as I did when it came to Catholicism, are bending over supporting Islam. All of a sudden they're all over facebook preaching about how we shouldn't blame Islam in these terrible events.

Now they say I hate Muslims. I don't hate Muslims, nor do I hate Christians. They are people just like anyone else, and I respect all kinds of people. I despise the ideology and the stupid universal notion that they're beyond criticism. The violence is printed in each one of their holy books. How can you keep saying it has nothing to do with the religion? It's right there in their own authorized instruction manual.

It disappointed me so greatly when they all have the balls to openly mock Christianity, but any negative opinion on Islam is all of a sudden "re-inforcing islamophobic bigotry".

Two of the nicest guys I have ever met were 2 muslim Turks. I had a blast working with these guys. I enjoyed hearing about Turkey and the culture. Their wives would prepare lunch for me every single day even though I politely tried told them not to bother. They would offer to lend me money immediately if they thought I had financial issues (which I had at the time). They would go out of their way and drive an extra 25 minutes every single day just to bring me home. They did all of this assuming I was Christian. Once I told them I left the faith and am now an Atheist.... At first they flipped, but seem more concerned for my soul and mental well being more than anything. They pleaded with me not to give up etc. It was all very touching to be honest. It all kinda ended once they found out my best-friends were gay. They yelled at me and asked me if I was a fag as well. They told me to stop hanging around with those filthy fags. That "this country could learn a thing or 2 from Liberia about treating homosexuals". It was quite disappointing, that that was their tipping point. They were cool with my Christianity. They learned to cope with my Atheism. Homosexuality, however, was out of the picture. I still don't get it.
