US border forces are seizing Americans' phone data and storing it for 15 years

So if that's true then why are the Democrats pouring money into elevating the most extreme candidates among them? If it's such an issue, and so prevalent among the GOP then why would the democrats try to get them nominated? I have to wonder if they actually did this with Trump. Having democrats vote for Trump in the primaries, and promoting him thinking Hillary could easily beat him. I always wondered about Romney, and McCain too. I couldn't figure out how they got the nomination over others. Maybe now we know why.

Just one source: "National Democrats, party-aligned nonprofits, and some of their candidates have together spent millions to elevate the most extreme positions of far-right candidates in races in Pennsylvania, Illinois, Colorado, and Maryland, and it’s a strategy that’s divided party operatives. The total investment this cycle was over $44 million as of last quarter, according to an Open Secrets analysis."

I have to wonder, why are they so unsure of their own candidates? Why can't they run, and stand on their own?
