Has the bottom fallen out of the Japanese English teaching market permanently? What’s your opinion?

The universities look determined to make us all part-time workers. I am job hunting now and there just hasn't been much going this year. I am on a few waiting lists and waiting on a few interview results, so it might work out, but I am going to have to start looking to put together a part time schedule.

I am not alone. Out of the 6 of us who started, 1 has found full time work so far for next year. I know it gets a bit crazy closer to the new term but still seems a bit sparse.

I am seriously wondering if it's worth carrying on. If options are this limited now then in even five years I imagine it might be PHD or you are working a part time schedule.
