California to reimpose statewide indoor mask mandate as Omicron arrives

Omicron will go away when we hit herd immunity, which based on the projections that are going around is probably going to be around February.

Do covid antibodies even last long enough to achieve herd immunity though? Like don't they only last 3-6 months depending on your age, and then you need a booster or reinfection? So would you realistically need 99% of the population getting a booster religiously every 3 months right on schedule to achieve that?

Also from what I'm reading omicron very likely came from an animal. so even if you achieved herd immunity, wouldn't another immunity resistant covid strain just evolve in an animal reservoir again shortly after?
