can someone please explain to me what ESEA do?

Well, first of ESEA is a paid only league system.

They quickly began dominating the league market because their income allowed them to work on their servers and services to the point they became a sort of titan in the league market for CSGO. It had the best anti-cheat, the best servers, a good if not circle-jerky client base. Everything SEEMED fine.

Then it was uncovered that the client was mining for bitcoins. And had been for months (?). When it was first uncovered ESEA's response was "So? We're so big that if you have a problem with it, you can go play on a different league system. (Lol)" Essentially admitting to viewing themselves as a monopoly and to big to fail. Little did they know that it wasn't just their clients who had a problem with it. The law did too, and their was a large suit filed against them. This was quickly followed by a patch to remove it, and a public "Appology".

Next was an issue with them sending, recieving, and storing passwords, usernames, and emails in plaintext making everyones accounts vulnerable to the infamous heartbleed exploit. Again, a resounding "We don't care" was given as an answer. After a public backlash they eventually changed their system to encrypt everything.

Now the problems they are facing is their new "Always Active" anti-cheat which makes their client always run as a background task. Even giving their client and their staff level 0 (The strictest you can have, essentially a "Super-admin") control over your computer and files. Which includes being able to download, move, and alter things down to the kernel level (Which of course includes all files on your computer). They've claimed that it's strictly for anti-cheat reasons, and that they had no interest in personal information or files. They also said that anyone who doesn't like it can cancel their subscription (Again, essentially another fuck you), and uninstall the client.

However all of these claims have been proven false, ESEA has been shown to be stealing files for whatever reason, people who cancel their subscriptions have been given perma-bans (Even if they only cancel the automatic refresh on their subscription), and that even if you uninstall their client there's still traces of it left in the kernal level that still allows them full control of your computer. Given the companies history, this has been sending up redflags all over the place, with just about everyone.

All the while, what appear to be shill accounts have been spotted refuting any negativity brought up against ESEA, and downvoting any posts regarding the negativity. Also one of the staff uploaded a video onto ESEA's channel that essentially bashes his brother with down syndrome. (Although it's claimed his brother was complacent in this, and actually thought it was funny, I don't think it matters. What he did was pretty classless.)

(Please note I could be mistaken about a lot of this. And I don't feel like digging through posts to find sources. So take this all with a grain of salt.)

Tl;Dr- They have a long history of abuse of their power, and besides a court mandated apology the only answers we can get from them is "Fuck you". And all their shady, assholeness has been coming to a head recently.
