I'm not only an English speaker in Quebec, I'm an American that grew up in a world that treats the F-word with such taboo, it's worse than saying Voldermort in the Potterverse. Here, you can walk into a retail chain and hear gangsta rap blasting on the speakers, riddled with F-bombs. French kids use them constantly and words like "piss" have been turned into the verb "pisser," but that would be offensive for a kid to say in the US. My bilingual children are adjusting well. It's amazing to me that they don't say "bad words" in English, but sometimes use them, with the accent, in French. Basically, English swears have been absorbed by the French culture and diluted in meaning. There are many examples of that, of course, in English or any language, I'm sure.

That said, when a Frenchie says "fuck you" to me because I cut him off in traffic, it means exactly what it means.
