Has cheating become normalized?

Blaming hip hop for infidelity is absurd. Just stop.

Monogamy is hard and doesn't come naturally to lots of people. We're the only great apes that even attempt it.

Monogamy is normalized in our culture because of specific historical circumstances. Specifically it was important for inheritance law and property rights in the early christian era, and more specifically the fact that women were considered property of their husbands. That's why men sleeping around wasn't considered problematic in western cultures until pretty recently.

Something like 25% of people in "monogamous" relationships cheat, There's no good evidence that number has changed much in recent years, though people are more or less honest about it depending on lots of other factors. Another significant percentage of people have consensual non-monogamous relationships.
