China reaching out to foreigners with at least one Chinese ancestry - ethnic Chinese can now apply for 5 year visa

While it's great that the government is accepting Chinese Hapas, this in no way means that Chinese society at large will accept you as one of them. I'm glad that we are at least being more accepted on paper, but doesn't the U.S.-and many other Western countries-already do this? If only one of your parents is Ann American citizen, then you automatically qualify to be an American citizen, as well. Based on the way that I was treated, and the way Hapas in China continue to be treated, we will never be accepted in China in our lifetime. So as nice as this is, I don't have my hopes up. This is a more of a "practical" advantage than a personal one (in terms of assimilating into Chinese society).
