Clinton Email Scandal: Hillary Could Face A 10-Year Prison Stint If Her Server Was Hacked

  • Nobody knows. It seems to me, an arm chair "lawyer" who just reads news stories and tries to stay current but has no formal training whatsoever, there's probably enough evidence to say she broke a law and charge her with something. How serious that would be, and even if she'd be convicted, is another matter altogether.

  • Probably minimal, which is the issue. Tensions in the US are high. A lot of people, myself included, feel like the rich & powerful have a different set of rules/laws than the rest of us. The Clintons definitely belong in the camp of "the rules don't apply to us."

If Joe Smith from Pleasantville, USA (not a real place) set-up a private e-mail server that handled classified intel, he'd almost certainly be prosecuted. But because she's a former Secretary of State and her husband is a former President, I think she'll get special treatment. Either she'll be charged, or Obama will pardon her, or whatever. I'd bet anything on her not serving a single day in jail, even if she deserved it.

  • No, she hasn't. She's definitely not loved. Her and Trump have literally the highest disapproval numbers of presidential candidates in the history of polling. A lot of that is people who "favor" the other candidate just saying "Never Hillary" or "Never Trump." There are a lot of people who think "a pox on both their houses" and think both candidates are unfit for the office of the President.

But there are also a lot of people who have voted for Hillary. In a vacuum, she has a great resume of experience from the standpoint of public offices she's held. America under her husband experienced a huge economic boon, even if part of that was fueled by technological innovation.

  • Three reasons: first, most middle aged and older Americans aren't technologically literate enough to fully grasp what is going on, so they don't care. Second, the mainstream media don't put nearly enough coverage on this as they probably should, although in part that's just because they're waiting for news of an indictment.

Finally, the American people for the most part are complacent and lazy. All things considered, America isn't in as bad of a situation as somewhere like the Ukraine or Greece. We still have clean water, plenty of food, and a relatively stable economy.

Yeah, there's a lot we need to fix. We shouldn't be arguing over who goes to the bathroom where, or what two consenting adults do in the privacy of their own bedroom, and our internet speeds are shit. There's also dozens of other issues. The biggest one to a lot of people, which goes to this issue, is the general nebulous idea that the rich are fucking over the poor. But that's also something that has been going on for the entire course of human history, so fixing it is hard, even if it's worth doing.
