CM Punk in an Interview with SI: "Well, that’s another thing in that phony world. What does it mean to be a good fake wrestler? That’s an identity crisis that I think I struggled with. It doesn't matter if you're the best; someone else picks who they want in the top spot."

CM Punk was the greatest of all time on the mic & one of the greatest in ring story tellers, a excellent wrestler and the biggest draw in wrestling since the Rock when Punk was at his peak. (out selling Cena in merch)

If CM Punk had risen up during the attitude era he would of main evented wrestlemania a few times & he would likely would of redefined the wrestling industry just as the Rock did in 2002 onwards.

The problem is CM Punk came in during the Triple H era where NO ONE is allowed to get too over unless they are hand picked by either Vince or Triple H.

This era in wrestling is all about control. Controlling the wrestlers and the fans to the point that we will NEVER EVER see another Stone Cold or Rock again. Now we all know how much Triple H resented both these guys. I get the distinct Impression that the reason we don't get to see wrestlers rewarded for getting organically massively over & becoming big draws is because Triple H has always resented guys like that. He's jealous of it because despite sleeping with the bosses daughter & being given a shit ton of massive opportunity due to that he could never reach the level of the Rock, Austin, Kurt Angle & Mick Foley.

He hated CM Punk for the same reason. He was a far bigger star then Triple H could or would ever be and a much bigger draw. He was becoming a star beyond wrestling due to his pipe bombs.

Now I could be wrong but I do find it strange that we have gone from the Attitude/Ruthless aggression eras where wrestlers were rewarded for getting over, were allowed to get over as heels and granted big opportunity's for doing that to a era where people get "cooled off" or buried in the lower card if they start to get massively over when Triple H/Vince hasn't hand picked them.

Roman Reigns for example is Triple H's project. It was reported on many months ago. It does seem counter-productive to cool off Ambrose/Ziggler/Bryan just to up one guy.
