CMV: The recent violence from radical left activists is unacceptable

Richard Spencer never even mattered until Hillary brought him up in her campaign. The alt-right was not a real movement. The proper course with someone like Spencer is just to ignore them and not talk about them. You only empower him by giving him attention, his message carries no weight. No one would be offput by his message if the media didn't blast stupid shit about the alt-right (An extremely small group) all the time.

I've known tons of impoverished minorities. I went to an all-black middle and high school, hung out in the ghetto in college, and then moved to Atlanta. I have different ideas about what's best for them, though.

The message during the civil rights movement was very different than it is now. The calls were to stand up to oppression- do not be beaten down by it, rise above. If someone calls you a n*****, fine, fuck em. Don't let it get to you, rise above. Be better than they are. Stand together, stand strong, and with conviction and persistence we can win our fight.

There wasn't a quarter as much bitching during the civil rights movement as there is now. People were trying to better themselves and their community, not find excuses for why everything in the goddamn world is racist, even though it was. And you know what? It worked, they rose above. They got to a better place, where we are now. And where are we now?

Unfortunately, in my experience poor black people are by far the most racist group of people I've spent time with. They view everything through the lens of race, you can be hanging out with a group of black people and they'll tell you to avoid a bunch of different houses and places because they might not be safe. They have a tendency to view every setback as a result of racism, because they've been told by everyone that they live in a horrible racist dystopia for their entire life, and that colors how they view the world. This is a serious problem, because it's a crippling force. If someone tells you that you can't achieve something then you're much more likely to give up. If someone tells you the world is out to get you, you're much less likely to rise above. The sentiment of "sticking it to the man" is gone, replaced with an apathetic ennui, all in the face of one of the most racially tolerant societies in the history of the world.

I think the best way to help them is not to pre-emptively punch people that may hurt their feelings, the way to help them is for them to once again rise above petty bullshit and become strong enough to not get their feelings hurt. Stop telling black people that every single setback in life is a result of racism, and instead tell them they can achieve literally anything they want, because they can. This applies to women to, there's a nefarious element of psychological warfare when you tell females/minorities how bad they have it, despite the fact that women have massive societal advantages in education and the justice system, and black people have slight advantages in access to education. Even if things were terrible, you're not going to fix that by bitching, you fix that by not being a little bitch, going to school, and getting a fucking job.

There is no amount of punching Spencer in the face that's going to help anyone. SJW's shutting the fuck up would absolutely help people though.

(This is all well supported by psychology. If you experience a traumatic event, the proper course of action is not to avoid the "trigger" for the rest of your life, the proper course of action is to try and understand what happened, because the real root of trauma is that something happened which broke your view of reality. If you gain a stronger view of reality, the probability of being traumatized goes down. If you come to terms with the traumatizing event, understand why it happened, and accept it much of the side effects of trauma can melt away. Punching Spencer/Safe Spaces are just a form of hiding from reality. What really needs to happen is that the black community gets to a point where they don't give a shit about Spencers existence, because they're too busy earning fat stacks)
