Does anyone else always do more groundwork than riding simply because they love to watch how their horse moves?

Beautiful!

Personally I try not to overdo it (it’s a real physical effort for me, lol). I’m also one of those people who will put a solid months worth of groundwork on a start / restart if necessary, so I’m not in any way against it as some are.

With that said, if I don’t think there’s a constructive reason for what I’m doing with a horse, I’ll typically move on to something else. I really like the high performance aspect out of my / my clients horses. Some people (and for that matter— some horses) really enjoy the calm, steady, quiet connection on the ground and are content continuing in that space. Different goals naturally breed different styles in horsemanship.

Anyway, I always type too much. Ya’ll are looking really great. Very nice to watch, thank you! Wishing you and your buddy all the best.
