CMV: Reddit would be much better with age segregation.

Young people have great ideas that are worth sharing and discussing. They tend to be much more progressive, especially when it comes to issues like gay rights and racial equality. Banning them would limit a large portion of the discussion on multiple issues and probably skew this site towards a conservative demographic. How are we going to have a meaningful discussion on topics such as climate change or BLM if you shut out an entire group of people who are the most passionate and involved in these issues? I'm not saying who's right and who's wrong, just that limiting the conversation is not a productive way to grow knowledge, generate ideas, and facilitate discussion.

Many young people are also in higher education. Limiting this site to plus 25 would not only limit the ability to discuss issues that arise in higher education (cost of college, social movements on campus, the need for education) but also limit the general knowledge available on reddit. Young people are pursuing degrees in a wide array of fields. There are so many people who have strong information that could be pertinent to the discussion that you are just throwing away. There are probably countless young people who know more than you on a variety of subject. You're wasting the a huge chunk of the academic world when you put a plus 25 age restriction on the site.

And some could make the other argument. Why don't we put an age limit on reddit? Older people tend to be more stuck in their ways, less prone to change, and more likely to hold outdated view points. "It would help the site greatly if we didn't have to deal with people who hold poor viewpoints and are not willing to discuss or change them" could be a valid argument but I'm sure you'd disagree with the ban. And that's ok! I'd agree! Because it's wrong to paint groups with such broad strokes and make these impactful decisions based on generalizations.

I'd also like to point out that in this scenario, it's an older person asking to ban younger people based on nothing but generalizations. I think that's pretty messed up and just goes to show that people can say ignorant things no matter what the age is.
