CMV: The West and its allies should boycott the World Cup in Russia

England always over estimates it's power in a world that has significantly changed since they were an 'empire'. The Russians were within their rights to take out traitors to their country and Putin had to make a show of authority. England needs a friend in Russia more than an enemy given the slashes to the defence budgets over the past decade. Sanctions are about all they will impose and I take the view that the UK can't offer up any proof of the substance used. The world cup should not be boycotted as Russia did not win the right to host based on policital intervention. This is all very convenient in leading the public's attention away from the Brexit negotiations and the planning allegedly under way to hold a second referendum. If the Russians wanted to use the substance as a WMD then I don't believe we would have been left in any doubt as to their intentions.
