Why do we consider body dysmorphia a mental disease, but gender confusion normal behavior?

But there is a correlation between each level of transitioning, or even having a desire to, and suicide. So I kind of question if it is an effective treatment. I think the goal should be to make them happy with the person they already are.

It would be like treating bulimia by reassuring them that they are fat, holding their hair while they vomit, and giving them some mouthwash. That's not treating the real problem.

I'm also just largely against most plastic surgery. Sure if you are injured or born with a deformity, I guess it's alright. But I don't think breast implants will actually make the person happy, and I think that they have some deeper issues they need to work on.

I just want to say, I have nothing against these people. I have no idea how difficult it must be to have these thoughts. I am against the way it is being handled though.
