Consultants:

Yes, this really needs to stop. When I am a fellow / attending, I will never behave like some of these egotistical jerks.

There is one a-hole in particular who I had to call twice as an intern. In one case, my attending had already discussed with his attending (who are subspecialists of the same field) about this challenging case, and I was calling him more as a formality. The fellow says this shouldn't be a consult and my interpretation of the imaging is wrong, despite the fact that my attending was an expert on that and I copied what he said.

Second time, he says my consult doesn't make any sense, "you must have misenterpreted what your attending wanted," so he barges into our work room to speak with the fellow on my team, who was there listening to my phone call and tells him the same thing.
