Pharmacists as midlevel providers

This is how it is done at the academic center I work at. (Pharmacist). We do not diagnose and we do not want to be physicians nor pretend we are. We deeply respect our physicians and address “prescribers” correctly. “Good morning Dr ABC, Good morning Nurse Practitioner ABC, Good morning Physician Assistant ABC, I’m calling about patient etc etc”. But in my personal experience physicians are glad we’re taking care of the patients and we deal with some “menial” tasks that make more sense for us to deal with than them. There’s also the issue of formulary, which we know. Can you imagine having to change 2-3 orders per patient after each visit just because of the formulary? Again, academic center so I understand it might be different in other centers.
