Yes - all shift hours and check out, etc. need to be logged to be accurate. But here’s a thought: not sure what system you are logging your hours in, but the issue could be that they’re having you log your hours in IM instead of ED. The programs have different duty hours rules and the resident needs to be sure they’re logging in the correct “department” so the proper duty hour rules are applied and checked. When the block schedule was entered it should have reflected ED so the correct rules get checked. May not actually be a violation if the correct department is specified (or maybe it is - who knows?). Also, if it is an actual ‘violation’ is there a way to enter a note about the violation to justify it? Just thoughts from someone that had to handle all the duty hour stuff for over 15 years.
