My laces were untied when i was going down an escalator at a Barnes and Noble once. I was maybe 11 or so...definitely old enough to know better or be more mindful. Anyways, as you’d imagine my lace got caught in the grate and it started pulling on my shoe. My instinct is to free my foot from the shoe but it’s pulling the laces and it’s getting tighter and tighter until my foot hurts like hell and begins to roll over. I look up terrified and this older lady and me make eye contact. she was not petite but hurdled with grace and determination over the counter and just lifts me ripping my shoelace and rescuing my dumb ass. I hope she’s well. I learned a lesson that day.
