NDad loves genealogy.

I am actually curious about my ancestors (partly because I find that sort of thing interesting, and partly because I am so different from my immediate family that I think it would be kind of cool to find out where I "came from", if that makes any sense). Unfortunately, NDad is a pathological liar and has told enough blatant lies about his own past that I have a hard time believing anything he's shared about distant relatives. (One day they're all staunch Catholics, the next, our family tree was decimated by the Holocaust.) I think I've got enough easily identifiable names that I should be able to dig up some legitimate information at some point.

I'm not entirely sure what the draw is for him, but suspect he's looking for famous or "important" ancestors. There is apparently a distant relation to a famous poet (did not inherit those genes) on my mother's side, and I wonder if that revelation might have prompted some of this. (Or maybe it's not an N thing at all, and he just finds it interesting. Who knows.)
