It’s sad how poorly educated most people are on the DPRK and the media doesn’t help.

The significance of this is that Kim is basically cementing himself into the cult of personality of his Family’s dynasty.

He was pushed to prominence in the late years of his fathers reign and became”Supreme Leader” on a very shaky ground. That is no longer the case. Years later, after many assassinations, dissection purges of his leadership, and intense cult of personality propaganda, he is arguably more loved than his father was.

He has followed in many propaganda tenants of his grandfather which resonate more with the people than Kim Jong Il’s fascination with movie making and famine propagation.

I doubt the avg NKorean’s life has improved much, but food stability would be a significant improvement over the 90s and early 00s in helping them accept the young dictator.
