The problem with that is that they locked the "true ending" behind Shadow Wars, making it a goal that was very far away.

If you played Shadow of War (SoW) then you know well how the system worked. You can't say with a straight face that it was not built to encourage the purchase of loot box. SoW starts great and had a great mid game but by the end it was closer to some sort of grindy mobile game. Either you're wasting your life away like you're playing some F2P MMO and grinding to dominate orc to bolster your rank ooooor... swipe and get some badass orc that would put your dominated orc to shame.
