Did anyone else find their partner when they were specifically not looking for one?

Not entirely not looking, but definitely not looking for him. When we first met (as friends) I was looking for casual/sugar because I was still in “done with relationships” mode from my last breakup and that sounded entertaining. Then very briefly saw someone else. Then went through a couple months of trying to find “a nice boy”. I had mostly written him off as an option because he lives 4 hours away from me.

This man kept his lizard brain in amazing check for like 5 months waiting for what he felt was the right time to pounce. Checked in to see how stuff with other guys was going periodically. Encouraged me to give a boy I was afraid was too nice a second date. Being a good, supportive friend in general. I kept reiterating I didn’t want to do something long distance. Finally he ended up in my city and we met for drinks, and he was just…home.

And looking back on all my shenanigans he put up with, and knowing his lizard brain now, I’m very impressed. Because the time he chose to pounce was definitely the correct time.
