did anyone start smoking, to help with severe depression and suicidal thoughts?

Yes, I definitely have and do.

I would strongly encourage that you speak with your therapist (or if you are not currently seeing one, that you find one) and tell them about your plans to take a break. The therapist will not judge you and may be able to refer you to a prescriber or someone that can help you as you take a break.

As you experienced last week, one of the withdrawal symptoms of weed is extreme mood swings so you don't want to do this alone. While you're seeing a therapist, I would also try and see if you have some unknown, underlying traumas that are causing your anxiety/depression.

I was literally in the same boat as you are now from 2017 to Jan of this year but in addition I was in and out of homelessness. I was diagnosed with bipolar, schizophrenia, all sorts of things and was totally resistant to medical treatment...now I smoke weed and do Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and I my mood has never been so consistent (I still have bad days of course, but they're manageable now)
