My pitch: 80s, Cold War, nuclear submarine test, accidentally finds Themyscira. Super secret government task force invades the Island, big fight. The island is surrounded by the military. But all off the records, super secret. The government sends a team like in diplomatic mission or something, but also researchers (including Barbara Minerva). That finding could change the course of the war, a whole civilization of strong, trained, smart women, dealing with magic shit and whatever. Amazons look at the invaders as colonizers, they call Diana (or send a flaming arrow, I don’t know, they contact her somehow). Diana goes back to Themyscira to join her sisters against men, while also trying to protect mankind from the amazons. Basically, a mission of peace.

That premise would solve the problems, I believe. It’s in the 80s, but not set in the world of men.
