Does my therapist seems inept to you and second question, what type of therapy should I seek out for AvPD with trauma/phobia component?

Hey it's great that you have a solid therapist and treatment in place.

My situation is slightly different, but we have enough in common for me to recommend looking for a new therapist. I'm not currently diagnosed with AvPD, but I am diagnosed with Autism and am looking into seeking an AvPD diagnosis.

I actually may have Asperger's. Autism can contribute and lead to AvPD. I need to be evaluated for autism.

I've also been attending CBT for a couple of months, and have gotten diagnosed with clinical depression.

Could elaborate about what CBT is and what a typical session consists of? I want to know what to look for.

I tried two other therapists before I found my current one. While I'm still struggling with avoidance and depression, my current therapist has been really amazing with suggesting new healthy coping methods, listening to me, and pointing out when there are inconsistencies or errors in my judgement.

That's great.
